Description

Technological process

Standard immersion technology

Aluminum alloy (silicon content <1%): alkaline degreasing → alkali erosion → descaling → immerse AL-100

Aluminum alloy (silicon content >1%): alkaline degreasing → cleaning → immerse AL-100

Standard spray process

Acidic degreasing → spray AL-100

Note:

1. The film with AL-100 treatment can be carried out immediately a coating process after drying. It is better for coating process to place 24 hours after passivation.

 2. Maintenance: adjust the concentration and pH to the best state according to regular analysis.

 3. Consumption: The consumption almost only depends on the carrying amount. Every 1m2 product (including carrying amount), need to add a concentrated solution of 15-25ml.

Trivalent Passivation for Enhanced Surface Durability
Fengfan AL‑100 is a specialized passivator for anodized aluminum, designed to produce a transparent, corrosion‑resistant film using a trivalent chromium formulation. The coating demonstrates excellent adhesion and low contact resistance (< 0.8 mΩ/cm²), even under elevated temperatures up to 100 °C. This makes it especially suited for aluminum anodizing service workflows requiring post‑treatment protection. The passivated layer meets MIL‑DTL‑81706 and MIL‑C‑5541 standards, providing over 336 hours of salt spray resistance before visible corrosion. Applicable to both aluminum alloys and castings, AL‑100 supports diverse treatment goals including corrosion protection, coating pretreatment, and mechanical processing such as sizing.

Flexible Process Methods for Multiple Aluminum Grades
AL‑100 supports both immersion and spray processes depending on alloy type and silicon content. For aluminum with <1% silicon, the sequence involves alkaline degreasing, alkali erosion, descaling, and immersion in AL‑100. For silicon >1%, a simplified procedure with cleaning and immersion applies. The spray approach uses acidic degreasing followed by AL‑100 application. Recommended concentrations range from 100–500 ml/L with deionized water; typical usage for immersion is 200–300 ml/L and spray at 250–300 ml/L. Alodine coating users may find the process similar in intent but with improved environmental profiles. The pH is maintained near 3.9, and treatment times vary: 30–60 s for spray, 1–4 min for immersion—adjusted based on usage in pretreatment or standalone corrosion resistance.

Safe Operation and Compatibility with Surface Finishing
The AL‑100 formulation is non‑toxic, environmentally friendly, and easy to manage in industrial settings. Passivated parts can be coated directly after drying or left for 24 hours to enhance coating adhesion. Anodizing aluminum process workflows benefit from this compatibility and the simplicity of operation. Wastewater is treatable with standard procedures, and solid deposits in inventory are normal, having no impact on performance. Film inspection for coverage and regular pH/concentration control ensure process consistency. On average, about 15–25 ml of concentrate per m² is required, including for carrier parts. AL‑100’s compatibility with common aluminum anodizing kits enhances its practicality across various finishing operations.

Product Advantages

Design and System Compatibility Strengths
The structural formulation of Fengfan AL-100 is designed to produce a transparent trivalent chromium film that integrates seamlessly into aluminum anodizing kits used across various industrial applications. Its compatibility with both immersion and spray application methods offers flexibility in system design and operational layout. The concentration and temperature ranges allow for modular adjustment within existing anodizing aluminum process lines without requiring significant equipment modifications. Its hexavalent chromium-free formulation supports compliance with environmental directives while reducing system maintenance complexity. This adaptability facilitates incorporation into diverse anodizing aluminum workflows, providing system engineers with a versatile passivator for controlling surface treatment quality.

Operational Performance and User Efficiency Benefits
AL-100 delivers measurable performance advantages including extremely low contact resistance, critical for electronic housing and component applications requiring electrical continuity in anodized aluminum. Its long-lasting corrosion resistance exceeding 336 hours in neutral salt spray tests enhances product durability and reduces rework or premature failure risks. User operations benefit from straightforward concentration and pH monitoring, contributing to process consistency and quality control. The dual compatibility with immersion and spray procedures streamlines batch and inline finishing processes. Non-toxic, trivalent chromium chemistry minimizes health hazards and supports safer wastewater treatment, improving overall operational safety and compliance for aluminum anodizing service providers.

Use Scenarios

Pretreatment for Coating, Sizing, or Powder Applications
Fengfan AL‑100 acts as an effective pretreatment step for aluminum surfaces that will undergo painting, powder coating, or sizing. The passivation layer promotes strong adhesion while resisting chemical and environmental degradation. In aluminum anodizing service lines, it is especially useful for enhancing subsequent surface treatment durability. The transparent nature of the film allows for visual inspection without masking critical tolerances. Professionals using aluminum anodizing kits or automated finishing lines can rely on AL‑100 to stabilize surface conditions before the final coating layers are applied.

Application to Various Aluminum Substrates and Castings
AL‑100 is compatible with both rolled aluminum alloy and cast aluminum parts, regardless of silicon content. The treatment adapts to low- and high-silicon alloys through tailored preparation steps, offering operational flexibility. It can be used after anodizing aluminum process or as a standalone corrosion inhibitor. Industrial users in automotive, aerospace, or general fabrication sectors can integrate AL‑100 without modifying equipment. Compared to some alodine coating methods, its chemical stability and straightforward control systems offer advantages in processing diverse aluminum components under uniform quality standards.

Use in Electronics, Automotive, and Outdoor Equipment
AL‑100’s low contact resistance and thermal stability make it ideal for use in components requiring electrical continuity, such as connectors, enclosures, or vehicle chassis elements. The passivated layer supports extended service life in harsh or fluctuating environments. In electronics, it can be used to prepare housings for sensitive components; in automotive, it ensures the longevity of exposed or underbody aluminum parts. In combination with anodized aluminum design requirements, AL‑100 offers reliable performance for precision parts undergoing further functional coating or assembly in aluminum anodizing kits.
