Description

Black Pearl coating ; Sn-Ni Alloy Nickel Plating Chemicals Salt A

1. Properties

1. An elegant and unique “Gun-color” deposit can be obtained on the bright Nickel layer. At present, it is popular on the international market, widely used on light industrial products, such as watches, lamps, leather decorations and so on.

2. The deposit has good hardness and resistance to abrasion.

3. The technique is stable, suitable for both rack and barrel plating.

2. Technical Formulation and Operating Condition

Potassium Pyrophosphate K4P2O7 200~250g/L
“Gun-color” Powder A 25~30g/L
“Gun-color” Agent B 35~40g/L
“Gun-color” Stabilizer 1~2g/L
Temp. 40~45℃
PH 8.5~9.5
Anode Graphite
Dk 0.1~2A/dm2
Cathode replacement Required

3. Bath Make-up

1. Dissolve potassium pyrophosphate in water of 1/2 total volume, heat it to 50℃.

2. Add powder A into above solution and agitate it to completely dissolve.( it will take long time because of slowly dissolution).

3. Add agent B and stabilizer, agitate evenly, then electrolysis for several hours, try plating.

4. Technical Formulation for Passivation

Chromic acid 50g/L

Temp. Room temp.

Time 20~30’s

Decorative Gun‑Color Finish on Nickel Layer
This product, Salt A, is part of the Sn‑Ni alloy decorative coating system offered by Fengfan. When applied over a bright nickel underlayer, it yields an elegant “black pearl” or gun‑color appearance, sought after for aesthetic applications. The deposit exhibits good hardness and resistance to abrasion, making it suitable for components expected to handle wear. It is manufactured by Fengfan as one of their plating chemicals for decorative finishes. The technique is stable, with both rack plating and barrel plating modes supported, allowing flexibility in production environments seeking consistent visual output and durability.

Controlled Bath Composition and Operating Conditions
Salt A plating requires specific bath composition parameters for optimal performance. The primary electrolyte component is potassium pyrophosphate at a concentration of 200‑250 g/L. Salt A (the black pearl powder) is used at 25‑30 g/L, together with Agent B at 35‑40 ml/L, and a stabilizer at 1‑2 g/L. The plating temperature is maintained around 40‑45 °C, with pH kept between 8.5‑9.5. Current density (cathode current, Dk) ranges from 0.1‑2 A/dm², and anode material is graphite. These controlled parameters ensure that the electro nickel plating effect is stable and reproducible, with good hardness and surface integrity. Proper adherence to these specifications is essential when using metal plating service lines that require repeatable decorative quality.

Process Flexibility and Stability for Production
Salt A’s process is designed for consistent performance across different plating configurations. It supports both rack plating and barrel plating, which makes it adaptable to small batch decorative parts or higher‑volume runs. Stability refers both to the plating appearance (maintaining the gun‑color finish) and the mechanical properties (hardness, abrasion resistance). For operations run by a zinc nickel plating company or similar firms offering comprehensive plating services, deploying Salt A within a plating solution that includes nickel pre‑treatment layers enables reliable decorative coating results. Maintenance of bath parameters, including temperature, pH, and replenishment of Agent B and stabilizer, ensures continued performance over time.

Product Advantages

Design and System Integration Strengths of Salt A
Structurally, Salt A is engineered for seamless integration within potassium pyrophosphate-based electro nickel plating baths, leveraging a stable electrolyte system that minimizes process deviations. The chemical composition permits modular incorporation alongside existing plating chemicals, such as Agent B and stabilizers, providing a controlled environment that supports both decorative and functional coating objectives. This design facilitates straightforward scaling from laboratory to full production systems. The precise bath composition and stable operating conditions reduce downtime and chemical wastage, streamlining metal plating service workflows and enhancing system reliability.

Enhanced Performance and Operational Efficiency
Salt A delivers exceptional coating hardness and abrasion resistance essential for durable decorative finishes, contributing to reduced rework and improved product lifecycle. Its stable bath chemistry and adaptability to rack and barrel plating methods simplify process control, allowing operators to maintain consistent visual and mechanical quality across varied production volumes. These performance attributes result in lowered operational costs and enhanced return on investment by minimizing coating failures and improving process uptime. Additionally, technical support and detailed specifications from Fengfan improve ease of implementation, making Salt A a valuable asset in professional metal plating service environments.

Use Scenarios

Decorative Accessories and Ornamentation
Salt A is well suited for decorative parts where a black or gun‑color aesthetic is desired: e.g. watches, lamps, leather decorations, etc. For manufacturers or suppliers operating in the decorative goods sector, integrating this Sn‑Ni Salt A allows offering black pearl color finishes on nickel underlayers while maintaining hardness. In metal plating service firms that supply decorative pieces, the product enables variation in finish options without needing separate decorative plating lines.

Quality Products in Light Industrial Goods
In light industrial applications, where decorative appearance also needs to endure usage, Salt A performs well. Items that are visible but subject to abrasion—such as lamp fittings, decorative hardware—can benefit from the good wear resistance. Electro nickel plating with Salt A coating helps such components retain appearance over time. Manufacturers who combine functional and decorative requirements can use this solution to deliver both.

Flexible Production Environments
Salt A suits production environments that require both batch and semi‑continuous decorative plating runs. Whether parts are rack plated individually, or in bulk via barrel plating, the process stability allows consistent finishes. Companies servicing various clients with different product volumes within metal plating service operations will find Salt A helpful to standardize processes. Also useful in setups where switching between decorative finishes is needed, as Salt A works within specified bath conditions without overhauling equipment.
